Student Services Information for Parents The staff and faculty of CSC Institute believe in the importance of the parent's role in the student's transition. For many students, post secondary school years are the journey from youth to adulthood. Parents need to help their student by offering a balance of support and structure combined with teaching responsibility. First and foremost, create a realistic plan that allows the student to feel independent and successful. The staff and faculty of CSC Institute take very seriously their role to help guide and protect your student while attending one of the CSC Institute campuses but no one can take the place of Mom and Dad.Financial Aid If your student has just enrolled or is packing at this moment, the top priority for you and your student is to have all necessary paperwork for financial aid completed and turned in on time. CSC Institute has very popular educational programs therefore the demand is very high for class seats. CSC Institute has established strict deadlines for paperwork to be turned in to help secure your student's seat in class, otherwise you take the chance of being cancelled for your chosen start date, which ultimately delays the beginning of your student's career. This is one of many lessons your student will learn in the area of deadlines and self-management.Parent Role The role of the parent is one of guidance and encouragement. Give your student certain expectations and discuss how these goals can be met. For example, regular attendance of class, being responsible for the first time for rent and grocery shopping and maintaining a part-time job will be real life issues for a student. We encourage you to talk about time management, money budgeting and, of course, maintaining good grad es with your student.Attendance The School does enforce an attendance policy. It is essential to the learning process with the hands-on approach the School has. Regular class attendance will dramatically increase your student's ability to succeed.Academics If your student has struggled in the past with a certain subject, encourage him/her to seek out additional help at the School by talking with instructors or Student Services. Students perform at different levels. Have a realistic expectation of your student. Talk with your student about what you as the parent expect, taking into consideration this will be the first time he/she will be living away from home and having new responsibilities. Instructors, Program Coordinators and the Director of Education at each campus will do everything in their power to help your student to achieve. It is a team effort on behalf of your student and the School faculty.Contact The parent contact at the School, once your student has started classes will be the Student Advisors. We invite you to participate in your student's progress and look forward to watching your student grow and succeed at CSC Institute. Choose an item from the menu to the left to learn more.
